 Strikers 1945 Plus Review

12/23/09 - W: Originally an arcade game back in 1995, Strikers 1945 has since found its way onto the likes of the SEGA Saturn, PlayStation and PlayStation 2 through many different variations of the game. Recently that list was expanded, with the addition of Strikers 1945 Plus for the PSP. The game is somewhat of a cross between the first two Striker titles with “upgraded” graphics. Strikers 1945 Plus is only available as a download through the PS Store, which means you won’t be able to find a copy at your local retail store... (Read Full PS Store (PSP) Review)

Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 5, Rise of the Pirate God Review

12/8/09 - DM: Back at E3 2009, Telltale Games revealed that they had teamed up with LucasArts to produce a new episodic series called Tales of Monkey Island. Combined with the re-release of the original “The Secret of Monkey Island” shortly afterwards, older gamers familiar with SCUMM were more than happy to start dusting off their rubber chickens with pulleys in the middle. Not only was the original game re-mastered, but gamers were getting a new entry in one of the most iconic adventure games series of all time. Now, 6 months later, the final episode of Tales of Monkey Island is here. Does the final chapter sink or swim?.. (Read Full PC Game Review)

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories Review

11/7/09 - RR: Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for the PlayStation 2 is the game in-between Kingdom Hearts I and Kingdom Hearts II. Originally released for the GBA, Chain of Memories has been remade with upgraded visuals for the PS2. However, looks can be deceiving (and in Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories’ case, they are). Sure, it has better graphics than the GBA version and sure, it has Sora and the rest of the Kingdom Hearts crew, but what it lacks is anything new (that is if you’ve played both Kingdom Hearts I and II)... Guitar Hero 5 Review #2

10/31/09 - D: The Guitar Hero series has been a very strange rollercoaster since the beginning. When it all started, it was RedOctane and Harmonix's next step in a line of music games, such as Amplitude. In short, the original Guitar Hero was an attempt to make a “GuitarFreaks-esque” game that appealed to American audiences. The game was successful, and was soon followed by arguably the best game in the series, Guitar Hero 2. The second installment made the game more popular, and to no surprise, Guitar Hero 3 shortly followed... (Read Full Xbox 360 Review), (Read Full PlayStation 3 Review).

 Tower Bloxx Deluxe Review

10/25/09 - DR: Tower Bloxx Deluxe is an incredibly addictive game. The premise being that you must stack stories of a building together in order to make an incredibly tall tower. This is done by dropping “Bloxx” from a swinging crane, which initially starts on a flat building site, and progressively grows when you start stacking bloxx on top of each another. As your tower becomes taller and taller, it becomes increasingly difficult to stack the pieces from the crane onto the set pieces on your tower... (Read Full XBLA Review).

Tales of Monkey Island, Episode 3: Lair of the Leviathan Review

10/23/09 - DM: Lair of the Leviathan is the third episode in the five-part Tales of Monkey Island series. We’re at the point in time where you have probably already formulated your own opinion on the series, and you’ve either forked over $34.95…or you haven’t. Like I once said in a review of Telltale’s “The Bogey Man”, you’re probably reading out of curiosity. But maybe, just maybe, you’re reading because you have been on the fence about Telltale’s take on Monkey Island, and you don’t think it’s too late to jump in... (Read Full PC Game Review)

 Halo 3: ODST Review

10/17/09 - DR: If you are one of many who enjoy the Halo games, than there is really nothing I can say that will deter you from buying Halo 3: ODST. In fact, chances are, you’ve probably already bought the game. Halo 3: ODST uses basically the same formula as pretty much every other game in the series. If you like Halo, you’ll like this game; but if you don’t, than this expansion probably isn’t going to change your mind. One major question it does bring up however, is if this package is worth its 60 dollar asking price?.. (Read Full Xbox 360 Review).

Guitar Hero 5 Review

10/6/09 - DR: (Please Note: Daniel Richtmyre is our newest staff member) I’ve never really liked what Neversoft and Activision have done with the Guitar Hero series. Guitar Hero 2 always has and always will hold a special place in my heart as the “near-perfect” music video game with a diverse setlist and functional gameplay. Guitar Hero 3 tried too hard to be the most difficult game ever, and while it succeeded, later portions of the game were only fun to those who wanted to drop out of school in order to study and remember note charts. While World Tour was a refreshing change of pace in difficulty, it was an obvious Rock Band rip-off with a bunch of headaches, and quite frankly, a horrid setlist. And don’t even get me started on the Aerosmith and Metallica variations of the series... (Read Full Xbox 360 Review), (Read Full PlayStation 3 Review).

Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventure, Episode 4: The Bogey Man Review

10/1/09 - DM: You're probably reading this review for one of two reasons. Either you’re mildly interested in how the final installment of the Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures series fares, or you've already plunked down the money on the entire season at an earlier point in time and just haven't gotten around to playing it. So the real question is: Is The Bogey Man a fitting finale for the adventures of a cheese-loving inventor and his faithful pal?.. (Read Full PC Game Review).

Droplitz Review

8/12/09 - DM: At first glance, Droplitz looks incredibly simple. A limited amount of small, multicolored orbs (called “Droplitz”) are released over a period of time, and it is your job to rotate and rearrange sets of pipelines so that the Droplitz can reach the receivers at the bottom of the pipe-field, or connect up with a stray receiver mixed in the middle. PC Gamers, if you're getting flashbacks to the old game Pipe Mania (where you took some pipe pieces and connected them to create a path), it's perfectly normal. Droplitz looks incredibly simple because it is: It's just a re-direction game using pipes. Nothing drastically new... Tales of Monkey Island -- Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal Review

7/10/09 - DM: (We're trying something new for our home page and channel updates.) Back in the day, LucasArts's Monkey Island games were distinctly known for their charm, wit, and graphics. When the genre began to slow down and its popularity decreased, so did the production of Monkey Island games, with the latest entry in the series being released back in 2000. However, with Telltale's recent revival of the point-and-click adventure games, LucasArts has decided that perhaps it's time to bring back Monkey Island, and give Telltale the reigns to create a five-episode Monkey Island adventure series. So, will playing Episode One be like finding buried treasure, or should Telltale walk the plank? Read on to find out... (Read Full PC Game Review).
